The Children in Placement Longer than 36 Months - Point in Time report provides the number and percentage of children who are in placement for 36 months or longer.

Variable Definitions:
- In Placement 36 months or Longer: Length of time children spent in placement as of the last day of the year. The timeframes for this report are:
- All
- 36 to 47 Months
- 48 to 59 Months
- 60 Months or More
- Placement Types: The placement type of the child as of the last day of the year. For this report, placement types include:
- Resource Family - Kinship
- Resource Family - Non-Kin
- Treatment Home
- Group Home
- Shelter
- Residential
- Independent Living
- Case Goals: The goal of the child as of the last day of the year. Case goals are:
- Reunification
- Adoption
- Kinship Legal Guardianship
- Independent Living
- Individual Stabilization
- Other Long-Term Specialized Care
- Other
- Age: Age is calculated based on the child's age as of the last day of the calendar year. The age categories for this report are:
- 1 to 5
- 6 to 12
- 13 to 17
- 18 and over
- Race/Ethnicity: The race categories are analyzed in combination with ethnicity. If a person's ethnicity is Hispanic, they fall under the category of "Hispanic" regardless of their race. If their ethnicity is "Non- Hispanic", they fall under their corresponding race. The category of "Another Race" includes American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Asian, and Two or More Races. The race/ethnicity categories are:
- Black or African American
- Hispanic
- White
- Missing or Undetermined
- Another Race
- Gender: The identified gender of a person. Gender categories are:
- Year: Year represents data for the calendar year.
- County: The State of New Jersey is administratively divided into twenty-one counties. The county for this report is based on the county of the local field office responsible for the case. The twenty-one (21) counties in New Jersey are: Atlantic, Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
